About IGHR & The Mission

Indiana GSD and Siberian Husky Rescue, a 501 (C) Non-Profit Organization, is run by Joanie Zupan, who's goal is to save as many animals as she can. Living on five acres of land, she keeps 20-30 dogs at a time. These dogs are rescued from abandonment or high kill shelters and are cared for as if they were her own. They each are fully vetted, which includes shots, parvo and heartworm test, they are spayed/neutered and given prevention for fleas and heartworms. In addition, any injuries or conditions a dog might have are taken care of, whether that be via surgery or medication. Again, these dogs are cared for AS IF they were forever her own!

Joanie is an animal lover who made a promise to her rescue girl, Dakota, that passed from cancer a while back. She promised that since Dakota had brightened her life for the 4 years they had together, that she would spend the rest of her life brightening the lives of other rescue dogs. Her reward is seeing the faces of these dogs, go from sad to happy and playing as if he/she no longer has a care in the world!

Each rescued dog stays with Joanie until pre-screened, approved forever homes are found!
